The management of Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB, have dragged a female industrial trainee staff, Bukola Shoremilekun, 30 before the Lagos Magistrate court for Allegedly stealing the sum of N2m from its safe
and escaped.

A police source alleged that the accused, a resident of lisabi street, Alagbado, Lagos was ordered arrested by the Divisional Police officer, DPO in charge of Ilasan Division, Lekki , Lagos CSP Oyinye onwuamaegbu
following a complaint from the management of Guarantee Trust Bank, chevron Branch , Lekki , Lagos through the operation manager, Mr Tope Elufidayo.

The accused was charged before the Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s court, Lagos on a court charge of stealing.

Police counsel, Reuben Solomon told the court in charge No m|38|2017 that the accused committed the offence on 5 July, 2017 at the Guarantee Trust Bank, Chevron branch, Lekki, Lagos during working hours.

 Solomon informed the court that the accused was an Industrial Trainee staff with the bank when she committed the offense.

He said that the accused stole the sum of N2m cash from the bank’s safe and escaped unknown to her that CCTV cameras installed in the bank had captured her Solomon said that nemesis, however caught up with the accused when the management of the bank discovered the theft and reply its CCTV cameras where it saw that the accused stole the money and reported the matter to the police.

He said that the police tracked the accused to her residence and arrested her.

He said the offence the accused committed was punishable under section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused from Ogun State, however pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate A.M Davis granted her N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till 30 March 2020 for continuation  of trial
