Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos have dragged a 42 years old businesswoman, Yemi Adetunlese Eniola before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly publishing defamatory stories against the Prophet in charge of Genesis Global Celestial Church of Christ, Prophet Oladele Isreal Ogundipe.


Police alleged that the accused published the defamatory stories with the intention to damage the reputation, image and the profession of the complainant.


A Police source alleged that the accused was ordered arrested following a petition by the complainant and after investigation by Supol Rapheal Ajulo and his team, the accused was charged before the Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a four-count charged bordering on publication of defamatory stories, conduct likely to
cause breach of peace and threat to life.


Police Counsel, Williams Tijani ESQ told the Court in charge No 15/29/2020 that the accused committed the offence in june, 2020 in Lagos.


Tijani informed the Court presided over by Chief Magistrate, K.B Ayeye that the accused deliberately published the defamatory stories against the complained to tarnish his hard-earned reputation and image and that she also uploaded the complainant’s videos and audios recordings on the social media network.


He said the offences, the accused committed were contrary to and punishable under sections 411,375, 168(1) (d), (2) and 56(1) (a) (b) of the criminal code Act Cap C38 of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chief Magistrate Ayeye granted her N500, 000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till 9 November, 2020 for trial.
